Designers work on everything from illustrations and advertising layouts to animation and multimedia production. This program teaches the fundamentals of graphic design and gives you hands-on experience with industry relevant technology to prepare you for this fun and creative career.

The Graphic Design and Multimedia program prepares students for entry-level jobs in the graphic design and multimedia industry. Students learn to create effective designs that communicate visually in both print and multimedia environments.

The combination of technical and general education courses in the program helps students develop skills in critical thinking, logic, communication, and problem solving. The program prepares graduates for positions as graphic designers, production artists, web page designers, and multimedia designers within a diverse industry.

Upon successful completion of the program of study, students should be able to:

• Create effective layouts and illustrations using industry standard software.
• Design and create Web sites.
• Create and animate virtual objects in a 3D environment.
• Design and create interactive presentations utilizing animations, video, and sound.
• Develop video productions from pre-production to non-linear editing.
• Prepare digital files for prepress.
• Communicate and develop via hand-rendered layouts and storyboards of presentation quality.
• Apply graphic design business practices towards a variety of business situations.
• Professionally communicate as thinkers, readers, writers, speakers, and listeners.
• Write a résumé, prepare for interviews, and conduct a professional job search.
